Facilities at the Little Mermaid Dive Centre, conveniently located at the outer end of the jetty include classrooms, wet room and a spacious storage room. Professional dive equipment is available for rent including dive tanks, BCDs, regulators and octopus, dive computers, depth gauges, wetsuits, weights and weight belts and all the other equipment that may be required. Under water cameras are also available for rent.  Dive boats are equipped with two-way radio and oxygen kits. 

The Dive School also offers multilingual courses for all levels from beginners to advanced and a variety of specialised courses towards PADI certification. 

Some of the famous dive sites close to Sun Island include ‘Dhidhdhoo Beyru Faru’, less than an hour away by boat, frequented by whale sharks and mantas especially between the months from May to November. ‘Kudadhoo Ethere Faru’ is renowned as one of the best wall dives in the atoll. This is an inside reef corner, with an abundance of fish life and good coral growth, about seven kilometres from Sun Island. ‘Kudadhoo Beyru’ and ‘Kudadhoo Point’ less than seven kilometres away are both exciting dives. Kudadhoo Beyru is a leisurely drift dive where the reef slopes gently from five to 20. Grouper, sharks and napolean are features along the reef.  
‘Maamigili Kandu’ less than five kilometres away features small caves, white-tip reef sharks, napolean, sting rays and turtles.  

Other interesting sites in the area include ‘Bodufinolhu Thila’ famous for its big fish and sharks, ‘Madivaru’ also known as Manta Point which features exciting caves, some of them swim-throughs, overhangs and cavities, ‘Kuda Rah Thila’ and ‘Broken Rock’ to name a few.
